we are not here is a series of 16 photographs from 2007, sized between 15 x 25 and 40 x 63 cm. I've used them in several installations in different formats.

This project was my first major photographic exploration of liminality and in-between spaces. I searched for passageways in various settings, focussing on the idea of darkness as a way through many of the scenes. I wanted to create images with a certain otherworldliness, using an antique medium-format folding camera, which gave the photographs the hazy and slightly unreal quality I was striving for.
