Seven lone Polish dogs is a series of 7 digital c-prints, 12 x 18 cm, made in 2004.
During a road trip through Poland in a yellow car with two good friends, I started noticing lots of lone dogs. They didn't seem to be strays, exactly. Just random dogs running around on their own instead of with their owners. Sometimes patiently waiting at traffic lights, sometimes walking with a clear goal in mind, they seemed to be going about their daily business like any normal person. These dogs appeared alone rather than lonesome, lone rather than lonely.
I took snapshots with my favorite pocket camera at the time, a quite crappy Lomo LC-A, letting the images reflect the briefness of these encounters. Seven dogs, seven photos.
